Healing is a journey...
...from where you are to where you want to be
...from not-so-good to better, by way of confusion
...taken sometimes in confident strides, other times creeping timidly
...that's more enjoyable in understanding company

The (travelling) Guild of Healers invites you to a metaphorical caravan from mysterious China through desert and mountain, climbing and descending, to the Mediterranean Sea following the interwoven complexities of the Silk Road. We've chosen to meet in Second Life in new facilities provided by the kind folks there, but the music can be heard anywhere people want to meet.

Our caravan departs on June 13 at 1000 Pacific U.S., 1300 Eastern U.S., 1900 Zulu and Central European, and the journey takes 3.5 hours (somewhat faster than Marco Polo). We welcome other travellers to join us; please contact Tai'lahr or Ghaelen in Second Life to find out exactly where.

The music for this exploration will be presented on Shoutcast, courtesy of Ashtar, at

Where are we going? We're not sure. We do intend to help each other enjoy the trip.

This is a very nice announcement, LC.  Give me one more day, and I may have the Retreat nearly ready for guests....

Wherever we meet, we can point people to the thread here (a new one, perhaps) where we can add new info as it becomes relevant, such as the SL slurl and the link to the public chatroom here.  That way we only have to monitor two threads (I hope); one here and one on MOUL, maybe.  I should know about the retreat by tomorrow.  Check it out, we have water, three meditation areas, a place to contemplate the ocean (and sit, too, lol) and some greenery.  Tai has flowers, I think she said.  It is so easy to move the earth and coax things to grow that I'm having a lot of fun. laugh

OK, the Retreat is ready for more ideas.  I've got the ground dug up and reshaped, and I've put down some plants.

I also need to give you all new landmark cards.  The slurl in the private forum will still work, but you may land somewhere odd...

So... I'll be in SL Saturday and Sunday quite a lot, and will also be on skype.  Let's try to link up to see if our space will work for the 13th, and if so what ideas you all might have.

Hi all!  I suppose I should have been monitoring this thread more closely.   embarrass  Anyhoo, here's an update from my point of view:

I saw LC's post on the MOUL forum and noticed he mentioned contacting me or Ghaelen for the exact location in SL.  I replied that we had agreed to just direct everyone to the Eder D'Uru Post Office (and included the slurl for it) in which we could set up a teleport to the actual location.  Hope that's okay.  I believe it's best since we really have three options for the actual event venue, and at this point, any one of them could turn out to be the best one.

* Ghaelen learns fast, and at this rate, if she has the time, she could very well have the GoH parcel ready by this event.  That's one option.
* I am currently working on decorating the mall rooftop based on ideas y'all have shared with me.  So far, I have created a small garden off in a corner and a fountain with places to sit in a circle.  I'd love it if any or all of you could drop by and let me know what you think and share new ideas.
* The third option is of course, the Tokotah rooftop which is still under construction and no guarantees it will be completed in time.

Here are my suggestions (admittedly, speaking as the Eder D'Uru publicist):
* Save the GoH parcel venue for a "Grand Opening" type event in a couple of weeks.  If enough is complete by this Saturday, and you really want to show it off, then let people go over and take a "sneak peak."  Plan to use the mall rooftop and advise me on decorating it to capture the feeling you wish to convey.  We'll sort of make this our welcome to y'all.
* Then, hopefully, the Tokotah rooftop in Eder D'Uru will be completed in time for LC's Anniversary broadcast on the 20th.
* Then, we can begin making plans for the grand opening of the GoH Outreach Retreat.

How does that sound to everyone?

Thanks, Tai.  I did mean to post about that, but I was rather having fun digging and planting and relandscaping the parcel.  The journey date is getting pretty close, heh.

LC, did you post anywhere else?  If not, should we?

I'll be around SL quite a bit today, looking and probably getting in your way with more questions.... (giggle)

An opening event for the Retreat sounds nice.  We'll likely call it a First Gathering or something Healer-ish like that.  Maybe around the end of June?  I could slow down the building process then, eh?

The mall rooftop sounds fine to me for this event on the 13th. My understanding is that Tai can pipe in the shoutcast music to whomever is on the roof at the time.  That will allow more people to listen using just one connection to the shoutcast server.  Is that correct, Tai?

When the Tokotah Roof is done, we could have an Up on the Roof party to initiate the space.  Whoot!  That doesn't really involve the healers, but half of the voluntary volunteer hosting group is in this guild, as is the D'niJ.  So why not?

Edit:  I also have in mind to use your post, LC, as a basis for a notecard to send others in SL.  Is that ok with you?  Tai, can you help me with that in the next couple of days? (that is, if no one has done it already, lol)

Yes, I'll put the url into the land server and all the SL guests have to do is push the button at the bottom of their screen.

As for promotion in SL, I can handle that for now.  I've asked Ghaelen to write a little notecard with information about the GoH and I'll include it with the information that I send to DudeMom to put into the D'ni Voice newsletter.

I've been doing a little research and have started to really get into decorating the mall roof.  I hope I'm not going overboard here.  Please drop on by and feel free to comment.

And, while I was decorating, I remembered an awesome shop that gives away free quality clothing which would be perfect for this event.  I know you're all anxious to spiff up those avatars, so consider visiting the Yak & Yeti Shop the next time you're logged in.

Sounds as if this is coming together. Thanks, folks.

I have posted the announcement on Guild of Greeters, Great Tree and Amber Horizons fora. Feel free to copy and paste to others as needed, and to use it for a Second Life announcement card.

Wow, I picked the wrong time to go out of town--you guys have been busy!  Is there anything I can do to help now, besides getting back into SL & getting myself up to speed?  (Hope to do that later today.)

Tailahr has sent out a very nice bit of news about the Healers to Donahoo's SL Newsletter, and has also prepared another very nice card for the event.  So we're all set for this Saturday -- I guess we could bake some well-being brownies, some smooth-journey juices, and maybe some road-trip truffles.  I have to make some shapes for homework this week, so maybe I'll try doing something like that for our food table, lol.  OMJ and I talked a little about pizza....

Jane, the building classes started today.  "Building for Dummies, lol.  There's a class tomorrow around 6pm SL time with DeAnn.  If you are interested in snazzing up our Retreat, I think that would be great fun.  I'm taking the class with Dagda, but that's during the day (1pm) and I didn't know if you worked at that time.  The retreat looks nice enough to show people around without being embarrassed, so we can invite people over for a peek on Saturday, too. Oh shoot--I knew Dagda's class started this week, but didn't realize it was today.  Sigh.  Is it daily, or just certain days?  I can do either 1 p.m. or 6--will try for DeAnn's class tomorrow.  (My brain works better earlier in the day, but I'll try to focus, lol.)  Not that you need me--sounds like you have everything well under control!  But I think it would be fun to learn a bit of this--& maybe even make myself useful at some point down the line.  Stranger things have happened!   laugh

Meanwhile, looking forward to the event!  Sounds like it's going to be really wonderful. Smiley

Hi Jane,

If you prefer the 1pm class, that is Thursday.  I think I can relate to you what Dagda told us (we can use skype).  You might ask him if that's ok and if you can then join the Thursday class.  There's still room as far as I know.

Building together is always more fun, and I am rather stuck anyway as to ideas.  So, love to have the building company!

Oh that would be great, ghaelen!  I got tied up again yesterday & today & still haven't made it in to get the basics down (which I think I should do before inflicting myself on either teachers or fellow classmates), so I didn't try for DeAnn's class today.  Really really really mean to get in there to figure out the basics tomorrow, & if you truly wouldn't mind trying a recap at some point, I'd love to see if Dagda will still let me come.  I'll ask, anyway.  If he thinks it's a problem, I'll just wait for the next set of classes (assuming there will be some at some point).  And thanks! Smiley  (Guess I should ping you about this, & stop mucking up the forums, lol.)

laugh  crazy  I'll be on skype, Jane, and in and out of SL (dissertating this morning...)

And how about if I move these last bits about building to the thread on the Outreach projects?

I will set up a teleport from the event on the mall rooftop to your parcel (and one back again).  I suggest you make sure the ability to set landmarks there is turned off.  I also want to show you how to set up a group for the GoH before Saturday's event because people attending might want to join.  This group will allow you to send out notices to members and have group chat.

I found some pizza in my inventory which I've set out on the table.  If there's anything else you'd like, just let me know, and I'll see what I can come up with.

I must confess that I'm feeling a little anxious about the preparations for the event and it would greatly ease my mind if more of you (esp. the DJ) could come in soon and look over what I've created for the event.

I would also like to encourage all of you to spend as much time as you can in SL before the event in order to get used to the interface, moving around, etc.  I remember what it was like to be new and feeling like I wasn't enjoying an event as much as everyone else because of the things I didn't know how to do.  I'm in SL a lot and ready and willing to assist you all through this stage.
