Healers Silk Road event

Hi ghaelen.  Yes of course it's fine if you move these bits.   I seem to be having a really hard time clearing RL out of the way--just got into SL now, so I may have missed you.  If so, it's OK--I am being allergic to something & hence foggy-brained (stupid), so maybe not in the best shape to learn anything.  Just going to muddle round a bit with basic controls & such--what I need to be doing first in any case!

I have great confidence in you folks. I'm sure that you'll design a very nice space for our meetings. I'll stick to what I know: designing the playlist. For this event I prefer to remain in the background, as this is for the Guild of Healers.

The Mall Roof looks fabulous.  I can't wait to sit and talk with all the people I've not seen for a long time.  I've seen them in SL, but haven't had time to chat.  Tomorrow will be fun, if nothing else.

I'm going to try to make a little welcome sign or something -- don't know how quite yet but I'll experiment this afternoon.  The nature sound object that Tai gave me allows us to change the hovering words.  I made them invisible, but it just occurred to me maybe to change them.  Hmmm.

If you get a chance to go in and look around, you might like what you see.  Check out the roof, too!  Also, if I haven't given you an "official" landmark, you can get one from myself, Jane, or Tai.  OMJ might have one now, too.

Oh yes, we're also thinking about creating a "group" like the D'ni Refugees so we can chat at a distance and make announcements and such.  We need a name we'll be happy with forever, lol, because we can't change it once it is made.  Some ideas I have are:
Guild of Healers' Outreach
GoH Traveling Healers
D'ni Healers' Retreat

Any other ideas or suggestions?

Hovering text has its place, but it can be kinda ugly and show through walls and what not.  I prefer to make signs in Paint or PhotoShop, upload them and slap them on a prim.  If you need any help with that, let me know.

D'ni Healers' Retreat

I would suggest having either "Uru" or "D'ni" in the name to make it easier for community members to find.  A lot of explorers type these words into the Search to find the community when they first arrive in SL.

I like D'ni Guild of Healers or D'ni GoHealers' Retreat.

I got the text up (I only had a few minutes so a sign will have to wait) and I'm on my way out the door and I didn't get the group created.  The event is at noon my time tomorrow, so I'll have some time to do it in the morning.  If others will post your preferences, we'll have something ready by event time.

I don't really have strong preferences about the name; I think any of the ones suggested would be fine. Tai is probably right that having "D'ni" or "Uru" in it somewhere would make it easier for people to find us.  But--do we want to make a distinction between the name of our (temporary) home in SL & the name of the group?  If the place name is D'ni Healers' Retreat (I think?), maybe the group name could include the idea of "outreach" ("D'ni Healers Outreach," or something similar).  To distinguish between what we're trying to do as a group & the base from which we do it?

P.S.  I was in tonight for a bit to do my Dagda homework--Tai has added something to our space that I think you'll really like, ghaelen.  A very cool thing!

I like Jane's suggestion of having Outreach in the group name and "D'ni Healers' Outreach" sounds nice, but don't we want to have "guild" in there somewhere?  However, that would make the name rather long, so how does everyone feel about using the common "Go" abbreviaton?  "D'ni GoHealers' Outreach?"

I don't need the guild name in there, and I like D'ni Healers' Guild Outreach.  Is there somewhere in the description where we could add that it is a segment or part of the restoration of the Guild of Healers?  Not everyone in the group will want to be in the guild, they might just want to get notices of events or what is happening in SL.

Edit:  I forgot to add that I'm quite open to anything suggested.

Edit:  OK, group made.... D'ni Healers' Guild Outreach, with a description about the guild restoration and purpose in SL.  I don't know how to add people, but I'm going to the roof to ask those in the know.  Come and join the group!

The event was wonderful!  LC, I think that was the most beautiful time we've spent yet as a group.  The music was perfect and the company was totally immersed and on the journey.  Thank you, and thank you to everyone who joined us to make it such a perfect day.
